Yeah, agreed, and trust me, the ones who do the most crying I doubt even have a surface understanding of the work they cite. I think so many people hear the name Ayn Rand and think, "Oh my an old philosopher who apparently agrees with me. I think I'll start throwing her name around as if everything she said is profound and somehow true. And since most people haven't read her work I can site them as ignorant! Hurray me!" Lots of people in the very wrong right texts. As for Rand... well let's just say having a 10 year or so gap between reading the two it's like night and day. She, today comes off as incredibly naive and downright wrong on most counts philosophically. it's hard to take anything she has written seriously, which is probably why she put it all in novel form, to you know, skirt around the fact that her examples are completely one dimensional and her ideas fantasy. Sort of like taking the TV show 24 as a good way to develop national security policy. There really isn't much difference. Neither work in the long term. But you know.... as long as people cite something, anything people will believe it as valid.

Either way, Iron Man 2 did suck.

Ozinator: You got it. "Robin Hood" it is.

scrilly: Fair enough. My cliff notes awareness of Rand's work is a consideration, even if our conclusions remain similar.

If only I knew a means to convince the conservative rabble that they've already had their way for the past thirty years. But they just keep crying (and I do mean crying) "socialism!" But, I suppose they have as much interest in reading about (or even becoming dimly familiar with) socialist policies, as I do in Rand's technocrat romance novels.

from slate
Ayn Rand is one of America's great mysteries. She was an amphetamine-addicted author of sub-Dan Brown potboilers, who in her spare time wrote lavish torrents of praise for serial killers and the Bernie Madoff-style embezzlers of her day. She opposed democracy on the grounds that "the masses"—her readers—were "lice" and "parasites" who scarcely deserved to live. Yet she remains one of the most popular writers in the United States, still selling 800,000 books a year from beyond the grave. She regularly tops any list of books that Americans say have most influenced them. Since the great crash of 2008, her writing has had another Benzedrine rush, as Rush Limbaugh hails her as a prophetess. With her assertions that government is "evil" and selfishness is "the only virtue," she is the patron saint of the tea-partiers and the death panel doomsters. So how did this little Russian bomb of pure immorality in a black wig become an American icon?

wow, funny how the latest DEPRESSION has actually proven how deeply flawed Ayn Rand's philosophy is, yet all the windbags bang her books on the table like they mean something. Why? Because they are illiterates, idiots, dishonest or all three.

uh, pretty hard to throw Ayn Rand in there not having read any of her books. That being said, the movie did suck. Having read two of Rands books (all the way through!) I find that her theories exist in a vacuum completely disregarding human nature and the uneven distribution of wealth throughout the world (see inheritance), these two realities pretty much destroys her ideas on the infallibility of free market capitalism.

No really, she has no idea what dirt bags people can be and how environment can in fact dictate the difficult realities some people must face as opposed to others (say trust fund babies).

Atlas Shrugged is a painful read, especially in the wake of the oh so enlightening economic crisis the US is currently facing. At the age of 17 I was entertained by The Fountainhead but again... I was 17 at the time and really can't speak on her philosophies therein (as it was a while ago), other than I remember that her characters were pretty much "good or bad."

As far as Iron Man 2 is concerned, there is no story, some funny moments, but nothing to get worked up about nor pay money for.

Good review
Please also tackle the new Robin Hood because I understand Mr. Hood instead of Robbing from the rich and giving to the poor is a Tea Bagger...Problem though is the reviewers I got this from are "pussies" like you mention here and only allude to it. I certainly don't want to go watch the shit so thanks for doing this to yourself!

nah man... project camelot has those backlinks because of what they do. people respect their vision and are intrigued by whistleblower testimony.
as for aaron... an internet marketer? nah. id guess more likely he's crazy, or legit, or a conspiracy theory enthusiast who decided to do this to get famous and meet people he idolized via his new show/site/resource/store/income (thetruthcollective.com),
but not all of these theories and whistleblower stories are complete bullshit.

u still ragin, LOL.
And I am still a great, great man for having the courage to stand up to the tie-dye industrial complex and their lies. I won't pretend that shedding the blood on the tracks was a simple task, but for the sake of an open society where information flows freely, it was something that had to be done by Me. Thank you, and may God continue to bless America.
