Verdict: Buffalo Gold Max Power keeps the Gold Buffalo collection and lifts the ceiling to 12,995x. The return is the catch: OLG and BetMGM list the 94.11% build, and the 95.8% version turns up at PlayAlberta.
Six reels that never sit still
Max Power is a reel system before it is a Buffalo game. Each of the six reels shows anywhere from two to six symbols on a spin, so the grid can be as small as 2x6 or as tall as 6x6. When every reel is at its tallest, the game has 46,656 ways to win. When several reels come up short, it has far fewer. The count is recalculated on every spin.
The practical effect is that no two base-game spins feel alike. A tall reel in the middle of the grid gives Buffalo more positions to connect through; a short one narrows the path. Six reels also mean six-of-a-kind wins, which the five-reel Buffalo games cannot produce at all. Stacked wilds help join the reels together, according to Aristocrat.
The Buffalo Gold part arrives with the coin scatters. They trigger Buffalo Gold free games, and OLG and Bella Casino both describe up to 25 free games with six scatters. Inside the feature, Gold Buffalo convert other symbols to Buffalo, the same idea that Buffalo Gold introduced in 2013, and multipliers apply during the features. Put that conversion on a six-reel grid that can stretch to 46,656 ways, and the feature can produce much bigger results than the five-reel versions.
Next to its five-reel siblings
Played back to back with the older Gold titles, Max Power feels busier. Buffalo Gold and Buffalo Gold Revolution sit on a fixed 5x4 grid with 1,024 ways, so the base game has a steady rhythm: the same shape every spin, with the coin scatters as the main thing to watch for and the free games as the main reason to keep spinning. Max Power replaces that rhythm with variance in the grid itself. Some spins show a cramped screen with as few as 64 ways in play, two symbols on each of the six reels; the next can open up to the full 46,656. That swing is the main thing players either enjoy or dislike about the game, and it has nothing to do with the theme.
The free games also read differently. On five reels, a Gold Buffalo conversion adds Buffalo to a grid that has 1,024 ways at most. On six reels with up to six rows each, the same conversion has far more combinations to fill, and that is where the much higher maximum comes from. A player who found the original Buffalo Gold feature slow to build may find this one more rewarding, while a player who liked the calm base game of the older cabinets may find this one tiring over a long session.
Two RTP versions
This is the detail that matters most before sitting down. Buffalo Gold Max Power exists in two RTP versions. OLG and BetMGM list 94.11%, and that is the figure in the spec table on this page. PlayAlberta lists 95.8%. Both are genuine regulated figures, which means Aristocrat supplies at least two math builds and each operator chooses one. A 94.14% figure from one review site matches neither and is not used here.
For comparison, OLG shows 94.72% for the original Buffalo slot machine and 95.05% for Buffalo Gold Revolution. The 94.11% build is the lowest of the online Buffalo Gold titles with published figures, and the 95.8% build is the highest. If the help screen at your casino shows the RTP, it will say which one you have.
Aristocrat itself publishes no volatility rating. OLG and BetMGM label the game high volatility. FanDuel calls it low. A game with a 12,995x maximum that keeps most of its value inside the free games behaves like the high label suggests, and the FanDuel entry is almost certainly a mistake. Even so, it is an operator label either way, not a provider figure.
Max win and bet range
The top win is 12,995x the bet. That figure is a long way above anything else in the Gold line. Buffalo Gold Revolution caps at 1,000x, and Buffalo Triple Power tops out at 2,500x on its biggest fixed jackpot. For players who care about the ceiling more than the hit rate, Max Power is the obvious choice in the family.
Bets run from $0.30 to $30 at OLG (in Canadian dollars) and at FanDuel. BetMGM allows a maximum wager of $90. The spread is down to the operator, so the low end is friendly to small bankrolls almost everywhere, while the high end depends on where you play.
The jackpot question
Aristocrat’s page for the Max Power family mentions a metamorphic jackpot feature. BetMGM, however, lists the jackpot type for the online version as N/A. The two statements may describe the land cabinet and the online game respectively, but neither source says so directly. This page does not claim any jackpot for the online version.
Launch and US availability
Buffalo Gold Max Power went live online in New Jersey on December 13, 2024, announced by Aristocrat Interactive and reported by CDC Gaming. It was the studio’s fifth online Buffalo title, after Buffalo, Buffalo Gold Collection, Buffalo Chief and Buffalo Gold Revolution. BetMGM credits the online studio as Roxor, which Aristocrat acquired and folded into Aristocrat Interactive. A land version of the game also appears on aristocratgaming.com, though the year of that cabinet has not been verified.
Today BetMGM offers the game in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia, and FanDuel and DraftKings also list it. That puts it in every state this site covers, a reach that only a few Buffalo titles share, Buffalo Chief among them. State-by-state details are on the real-money hub, including which licensed operators carry it. SlotsLaunch does not carry the game, so there is no free demo on this page.
The best Buffalo slots ranking places Max Power against the rest of the family on RTP, ceiling and availability. On those three measures it wins clearly on two, the 12,995x ceiling and the four-state reach, and loses on the first unless the casino runs the 95.8% build.
