Buffalo Slot Providers: Who Makes Buffalo Slots, Online and on Floors

One company owns the name most players think of. Twelve others have built their own buffalo games around it.

BGaming

Blueprint Gaming

Booming Games

CORE Gaming

Games Global

NetGame

Playson

White Hat Studios

One brand owner and twelve challengers

Aristocrat made the original in 2008 and still makes more buffalo slots than anyone: thirteen of the thirty games in this guide. Most of them started as land cabinets, and eight of those thirteen have no confirmed online release. The online versions come from Aristocrat Interactive, the online division that absorbed Anaxi, Roxor and the NeoGames studios such as Pariplay. That is why operator pages credit the same Aristocrat game to different studio names; Caesars lists Buffalo Gold Revolution under Anaxi, and BetMGM lists Buffalo Triple Power under Pariplay. The Aristocrat page follows the family in detail.

The other twelve studios borrowed the animal and built their own games. They divide roughly into three groups.

Studios with a buffalo series

Pragmatic Play has the best-known online line outside Aristocrat: Buffalo King (2019), Buffalo King Megaways (2021) and Buffalo King Untamed Megaways (2024). Playtech has Buffalo Blitz (2016), Buffalo Blitz II (2020) and Buffalo Blitz Megaways (2021), plus Buffalo Blitz Live (2020). High 5 Games has Thundering Buffalo and its follow-ups Golden Stampede and Jackpot Dash. Light & Wonder holds the WMS Buffalo Spirit pair.

Playson and Booming Games each run a series too, though only the first game of each is reviewed here. Playson’s Buffalo Power: Hold and Win (2020) led to a Megaways version, a Christmas edition and Buffalo Power 2. Booming Games calls its Buffalo Hold and Win line its top-performing series, and has followed the 2021 original with several Extreme editions.

The Megaways specialists

Blueprint Gaming, part of the Merkur Group, built Buffalo Rising Megaways in 2018, a game its own site now titles Bison Rising MEGAWAYS. White Hat Studios distributes the same game in the US as Almighty Buffalo Megaways. BGaming’s Savage Buffalo Spirit Megaways (2023) remakes the studio’s own Savage Buffalo Spirit. All of these run the Megaways mechanic under license from Big Time Gaming, as do Pragmatic Play’s two King Megaways titles.

Single titles

Three studios have one standalone game each. Games Global carries White Buffalo, released under Microgaming in 2012. NetGame made Wild Buffalo (2019), which has since spun off Fortune Wheel, Rapid Link and Hold ‘N’ Link versions. CORE Gaming, a UK studio, made Buffalo Charge (2019), not to be confused with a different game called Charge Buffalo.

One name turns up in buffalo lists without belonging here. ELK Studios’ Buffalo Toro (2022), from a studio that is now part of Light & Wonder, is a spin-off of ELK’s Toro series: a matador in a Spanish desert, with golden buffalos as symbols. Its 6x4 grid, 4,096 ways and 50,000x max win are confirmed by ELK, but the theme is a bullfight, not the prairie, so it has no review in this guide.

Data quality varies a lot by provider. Aristocrat has no current product page for several of its oldest games; Playtech, Games Global, NetGame and CORE Gaming publish no spec sheets for these titles at all, so their numbers come from reviewer databases. Pragmatic Play, Blueprint and BGaming publish game pages with the key figures on their own sites. Each review states which kind of source it used, and Playson’s own page could not be read at all, so Buffalo Power: Hold and Win rests on secondary figures.

Questions

Who made the first buffalo slot?

The game most players mean is Aristocrat's Buffalo, a 5x4 land cabinet with 1,024 ways released in 2008. High 5 Games' Thundering Buffalo, which the studio dates to 2011, is the oldest non-Aristocrat title in this guide. Many other buffalo-named games exist, but the Aristocrat original is the one the genre traces back to.

Is Almighty Buffalo Megaways a RubyPlay game?

No. Some lists credit it to RubyPlay, but the game is distributed by White Hat Studios, a Malta-registered, US-licensed company that brings Blueprint and Merkur content to the US. Its rules sheet matches Blueprint's Buffalo Rising Megaways. Merkur Group agreed in July 2026 to acquire White Hat Studios, subject to approval.

Which provider has the most buffalo slots at US online casinos?

Aristocrat, with five titles confirmed at regulated US casinos: Buffalo, Buffalo Gold Revolution, Buffalo Gold Max Power, Buffalo Chief and Buffalo Triple Power. Pragmatic Play, White Hat Studios, Playtech and High 5 Games each have one confirmed title in this guide. The states differ per game and are listed on each review.

Who owns WMS and the Buffalo Spirit games now?

Light & Wonder. WMS developed Buffalo Spirit and Double Buffalo Spirit, became part of Scientific Games in 2013, and Scientific Games renamed itself Light & Wonder in 2022. WMS showed Double Buffalo Spirit at G2E 2014 as a video game for its Blade cabinet, released for land-based, social and real-money play.
